Nanomer Takes Off! A Collaborative Journey Toward Innovation in Nanoscience and Education
A New Horizon for Nanoscience in Latin America with Nanomer
In January 2025, the NANOMER: "Nanosciences with Latin America: Sharing Knowledge Through Pedagogical Innovation" project launched, co-funded by the Erasmus+ CBHE program. At the Kick-off meeting, representatives from partner institutions discussed key aspects of the work packages, the signing of the consortium agreement, financial planning, and initial deliverables, including the project management handbook, quality assurance plan, and official website.
This milestone marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration to strengthen nanoscience capacities in Latin America through educational innovation and international cooperation.

XIV NanoAndes International School + First Nanomer Pedagogical School
With 208 applications from 11 countries, 60 students will be selected by an international scientific committee of 24 experts for the joint organization of two major academic events that will mark a turning point for Nanomer.
In November 2025, Santiago, Chile, will host the XIV NanoAndes International School and the First Nanomer Pedagogical School, organized by the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Chile. These schools will combine cutting-edge scientific training with pedagogical innovation, addressing key themes such as the environment, nanotechnology and health, artificial intelligence, and nano(micro)material pollution.

Promoting Academic Internationalization
We are fostering academic mobility through Work Package 7, focused on international cooperation. Five students from Latin American institutions have been selected to participate in a week-long training program at the University of Sorbonne (France) in 2026.
The selected students come from the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, Escuela Politécnica Nacional, Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Universidad de Buenos Aires, and Universidad San Sebastián.

Work Packages in Action
The Nanomer project progresses thanks to strong inter-institutional collaboration, evidenced by agreements reached in Steering Committee meetings. These meetings have solidified the foundation for project operations and quality, with the validation of the management handbook and progress on the quality assurance plan. Additionally, next steps for pedagogical training and the development of the Moodle platform have been defined, key elements for educational innovation.
The preparation of the Summer School, mobility processes for staff and students, and advancements in the communication strategy, including visual identity and the website, demonstrate the collective commitment and execution of the committee’s plans, strengthening nanoscience in Latin America through international cooperation.
